Broker Opinions

Important: Please note that the following service will no longer be available from 13 April 2015.

Using the Research and Data section, Financial Spreads clients have free access to the latest broker opinions for UK equities.

Please note that this analysis is provided by a third party which is completely independent from Financial Spreads and opinions should not be taken as investment advice.

To help clients with their research there are a number of different views such as the:

Performance Table Overview

The Performance Table defaults to FTSE 100 shares and shows the current broker opinion, share price, price/earnings ratio, price/earnings-to-growth ratio, dividend yield and market capitalisation.

Note that you can view the data by:
  • Index e.g. FTSE 100, FTSE 250, FTSE 350, FTSE Small Cap, FTSE All-Share, FTSE AIM 50, FTSE AIM 100, techMARK 100, techMARK etc.
  • Sector e.g. Banks, Mining, Oil & Gas producers etc.

This table gives investors a view of the recent opinions along with how many strong buys, buys, neutral, sell and strong sell opinions there have been. It also gives an overall position.

Again the data can be viewed by:
  • Index e.g. FTSE 100, FTSE 250, FTSE 350, FTSE Small Cap, FTSE All-Share, FTSE AIM 50, FTSE AIM 100, FTSE AIM, Fledgling Index, techMARK 100 & techMARK
  • Sector e.g. Banks, Mining, Oil & Gas producers etc.

Broker Opinions Heat Maps

Investors can also view the broker opinions as a heat map. A heat map can give a useful visual overview of companies that are moving in the market.

Again the opinions can be broken down by stock market index or sector. For example, the following shows a broker opinions heat map for UK shares in the Mining sector.

Broker Opinions for Individual UK Shares

If you click on an individual company, you can drill down and see a list of opinions for that company.

The opinions are listed in date order along with the share price at the time of the opinion and the target price.

Individual UK Shares - What the Brokers Say

With most FTSE and AIM listed shares there is also a useful summary listed under 'What the Brokers Say'.

This gives a simple table showing the number of strong buys, buys, neutral, sell and strong sell opinions as well as a graphic giving an aggregate position.
