FinancialSpreads+ vs Financial Spreads

In April 2015 we started offering all clients the FinancialSpreads+ account with Finsa Europe Ltd.

All Financial Spreads clients now trade using the FinancialSpreads+ account as standard.

While the management of Financial Spreads remains unchanged we have moved under a more robust regulatory framework.

Financial Spreads is now a trading name of Clear Investor Ltd. which is an appointed representative of FINSA Europe Ltd., company no: 07073413. FINSA Europe Ltd. is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority, registered number 525164.

Note 1: Platform Layout

In 2013, Financial Spreads introduced a new platform with a floating layout. We thought it was a nice idea. However: So even though a 'fixed' platform may not sound that positive we feel the new platform is a marked improvement and far more user-friendly.

Note 2: Email Confirmations

You will have to make your own mind up as to whether the following is a positive or a negative (we think it is a positive).

With Financial Spreads, clients would get an email confirmation: The principle was certainly sound. However, the reality was that many clients' in-boxes ended up buried under the Financial Spreads confirmation emails to the point where they lost their usefulness.

With FinancialSpreads+ we won't be sending you the above emails.

The same information is available when you log on to the FinancialSpreads+ platform and is shown in your trading activity window. We also think this is a more useful format.

Naturally you can download this information if you would like to keep a record of it.

As we say, you will have to make your own mind up as you whether this is a positive or negative change.

Note 3: Price Alerts:

At the moment, with FinancialSpreads+, you cannot set price alerts from the charts.

Note 4: Limited Risk Account:

In 2011, Financial Spreads introduced an interesting 'Limited Risk Account' where every opening trade has a Guaranteed Stop Loss attached to it.

The principle of putting an absolute limit on your trading risk was certainly positive. Sadly, the Financial Spreads clients didn't like the product and very few actively used the account. We are assuming the cost of having a Guaranteed Stop Loss on every trade quickly added up and this cost put clients off.

Therefore, Financial Spreads has stopped offering a Limited Risk Account.

Note 5: News Window

The Financial Spreads platform had a 'News' window with a list of the latest news articles. A nice idea but we did not feel there were enough 'trading specific' articles, e.g.

News Window
We have no current plans to reintroduce this feature.

Note 6: Daily Commentary

In the interest of giving clients a more specific overview of what's happening in the most popular markets we had a 'Daily Market Commentary' page. However, in the past year, little more than 1% of website users looked at the page. Again, a positive idea, but we suspect you're getting your views from elsewhere.

We have no current plans to reintroduce this feature.

Why Fewer Markets with FinancialSpreads+?

The new FinancialSpreads+ account comes with a number of key improvements such as the tighter spreads on many markets (see above tables), the new mobile app, deposit bonuses and a more user-friendly platform.

To make room for the improvements we have removed a range of markets including agricultural commodities, treasuries, and individual Dutch, Spanish and Scandinavian shares (see above tables).

This means we do offer fewer markets. However, over the past 7 years, less than 1% of all trades were on the markets that are no longer offered.
