This spread betting market is a 'Rolling' market and so there is no closing date for this trade. If you haven't closed your trade and the session ends then your position will automatically roll over to the next session.

Scenario 2
Land Securities goes lower and the market is revised to 1210.2p - 1213.0p, i.e. on Financial Spreads you'd see:   1210.2   1213.0
Restrict the Loss? At this point, you can decide to let your spread bet run or close it, i.e. close your position and limit your losses. In this instance you opt to settle your position by selling at 1210.2p.
Your Trading Profits (or Losses) = (Closing Price - Opening Price) x stake
(1210.2p - 1250.9p) x £4 per penny
-40.7p x £4 per penny
Your Trading Profits (or Losses) = -£162.80 loss


Worked Trading Example - Taking a Bearish View of Land Securities

You Now Decide Whether to Buy or Sell Land Securities going:

  Spread Betting Higher than 1250.9p? or
  Spread Betting Lower than 1248.1p?

Scenario 4
Land Securities climbs and the spread betting market is revised and moved to 1274.5p - 1277.3p, so you'd see:   1274.5   1277.3
Close and Restrict the Loss?At this point, you could opt to leave your trade open or close it, i.e. close your position to limit your losses. In this instance you opt to close your position by buying the market at 1277.3p.
Your Trading Profits (or Losses) = (Opening Price - Closing Price) x stake
(1248.1p - 1277.3p) x £5 per penny
-29.2p x £5 per penny
Your Trading Profits (or Losses) = -£146.00 loss
