Signs that the US economy remains in a healthy state have attracted buyers back into the dollar ahead of next week's central bank meeting.
This saw the EUR/USD spread trading
pair lose 35 points to $1.2412 amid a violent tumble in the Greek stock market.
Are we seeing the same old Greek tragedy unfold or is 'this time different'?
Forex Trading: 11 December 2014
The shared currency continued to rebound yesterday for the third straight session, gaining 74 points against the US dollar to $1.2447.
However, this rebound may simply be supported by profit taking as the reality indicates a divergent state of affairs on either side of the Atlantic and the gap is nowhere near being addressed.

The euro continued to rebound after reaching its weakest level against the dollar since August 2012, rising 59 points to $1.2373.
However, the Greek government announced that voting for a new President will begin next week, which could easily reignite the European nightmare.

The much talked about long-term loans promised by the ECB to boost stimulus, could prove to be insufficient according to a survey done by Bloomberg.
Investors realised that President Mario Draghi is probably having a hard time convincing the Germans that rhetoric can only buy limited time.
As a result, the EUR/USD cross gained 35 points to $1.2317, but not before it touched another recent low of $1.2247.

If the US economy is going from strength to strength, on this side of the Atlantic the waters are still muddy and that's reflected in the respective currencies.
As if the euro was not under enough pressure lately, two European officials said the ECB might consider broad based asset purchases early next year.
Consequently, the EUR/USD
pair made a new recent low, losing 89 points to $1.2289.
